online

In 2022 we were delighted to continue the collaboration we began during the pandemic with Steve Wake and the London-based Conversation Club. Our discussions covered a wide range of topics ranging from Ego-to-Eco with Jo Lucas, through Data Analytics and Project Controls, to Off World Living with Professor Andrew Edkins. To see details of all our meetings, please follow the link below to ‘Past Events’ on our Meetup Group.

EVA26: Performance that Works

An in-person Conversation Club event that was my first trip into London after COVID-19. It was my pleasure to speak on ‘Systems thinking for improved project performance’ among an impressive line up that included Michael Rosen. In the final session of the day the audience worked on creating and performing project-themed songs. So we now have an RPM song !!!

A ‘Student Take-over’ led by RPM Ambassador Ros and her colleague Dr Steven Parker at De Montford University. With both online and in person participants, Ros skillfully managed this hybrid event where students presented their understandings of RPM. Always interesting to hear how our ideas are interpreted by the next generation of project managers, with different cultural perspectives.

In 2021, Erik Mansson from The Business School at Karlstad University introduced us to his project management students who were organising a series of Public Open Lecures as a fundraising activity for the NGO Friends of Ibba Girls School (FIGS) in South Sudan. Our guest lecture included an interactive workshop and the organisign team have been keen to continue supporting RPM ever since. An introduction to the 2022 cohort led to another session successful, interactive workshop in May 2022.

It was a pleasure to join Carole Still in conversation with Steve Wake on the topic of ‘Project Management Competencies Decoded’. We presented the results of our research on the competencies required for RPM. The new framework was developed by combining work by the UN’s working group on the Sustainability Mindset (Rimanoczy, 2020), with the PMI’s new set of principles, as well as many other competency frameworks for project management.

august 2022, London

The topic of the first Newham Business Conference, organised by the Newham Chamber of Commerce, was 'Refresh, Renew, Refocus - thriving in an era of disruption and innovation' so it was fitting to discuss RPM with an audience of business leaders. As you can see, our mantra was, and we cannot stress this enough: “We must learn together. Fast.”

Karen shared insights from 25 years of partnering with businesses to prepare young people for entering the workplace.  Shared learning and innovation were highlighted as key ingredients for businesses to refresh, renew, and refocus for the future.
